The grand finale of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) took center stage at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), where three of Ghana’s most prestigious senior high schools — Mfantsipim School (BOTWɛ), St. Augustine’s College (Augusco), and Opoku Ware School (OWASS) — battled for academic supremacy.

From Round One through Round Five, the contest was intense, filled with brilliance, speed, and strategy. In the end, Mfantsipim School emerged victorious, securing 56 points to retain their title. St. Augustine’s College followed closely with 42 points, while Opoku Ware School from the Ashanti Region finished with 29 points.
This remarkable win marks Mfantsipim’s fourth NSMQ championship — solidifying their legacy as one of Ghana’s greatest academic institutions. They also clinched the 2024 edition, making this their second consecutive victory and a testament to their consistency, teamwork, and intellectual excellence.
The moment Mfantsipim was declared the winner, their students erupted in joy, celebrating with songs, chants, and unwavering pride. It was a scene of pure excitement and unity, as the “BOTWɛ spirit” once again echoed across the UCC auditorium.
All participating schools were duly recognized for their outstanding performance. Several contestants received special awards, including scholarships covering full tuition. Notably, Kofi, a contestant from Opoku Ware School, was honored for his three consecutive appearances in the NSMQ (2023–2025). He received a cash prize of ₵5,000 and a special citation for his dedication and academic excellence.
The 2025 NSMQ Grand Finale will be remembered not only for its thrilling competition but also for showcasing the brilliance, determination, and resilience of Ghanaian students.
