The mother of Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay has spoken publicly for the first time regarding the ongoing issues involving her daughter Wendy Shay and Tracy Shay.
In a self-recorded video, Wendy Shay’s mother addressed the matter calmly but firmly, explaining that the situation could have been avoided if Tracy Shay had informed her godmother before attending the show she performed at.
According to her, such communication would have allowed for proper guidance and coaching on how to respectfully engage with an audience.
She emphasized that performers must understand the importance of respect, noting that an audience is made up of people of all ages including parents, senior brothers and sisters, and grandparents — and should not be addressed or commanded as though they are classmates.
Speaking further, Wendy Shay’s mother revealed that, due to the actions and responses from Tracy Shay’s family following the incident, Wendy Shay will no longer be involved in supporting or assisting children in similar situations.
Her statement has since sparked conversations online, with many weighing in on the responsibilities of young performers, guardians, and mentors in the entertainment industry.
