The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has clarified reports surrounding the removal of the former Finance Minister, Nana Yaw Kennedy Ofori-Atta, from the Commission of Control of Interpol (CCI).

—Hon. Nana Yaw Kennedy Ofori-Atta— Former Ghana’s Finance Minister.
According to the OSP, the former Finance Minister’s name was permanently removed from the CCI records after his whereabouts became known. Under CCI regulations, once the location of a person of interest is confirmed, their name must be removed from the list.
The OSP emphasized that this administrative action does not absolve Mr. Ofori-Atta from any alleged wrongdoing. He is still expected to return to Ghana to answer criminal charges related to corruption currently under investigation.

Additionally, the OSP disclosed that Mr. Ofori-Atta’s initial listing on the CCI breached the rules governing the commission, as his location had already been established following his arrest on January 6, 2026, by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The Special Prosecutor reiterated its commitment to due process and accountability, stressing that all persons implicated in corruption-related cases will be pursued in accordance with the law, regardless of administrative corrections made at the international level.
