Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings, who is the first daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings and former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has been a prominent figure in Ghana’s political landscape in recent years.
If confirmed, her appointment would mark a historic milestone, making her the first female Defence Minister under Ghana’s current constitutional dispensation.

The possible appointment follows a tragic helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, which claimed the lives of eight individuals, including key government officials such as the then Defence Minister and the Environment Minister.
