New Ayawaso East MP’s First Day in Parliament Sparks Reactions After Dozing Moment.

A moment from Ghana’s Parliament has stirred conversations online after the newly sworn-in Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East was seen dozing shortly after taking his seat in the chamber.

On March 10, 2026, Baba Jamal officially entered Parliament of Ghana to be sworn in as the new Member of Parliament representing the Ayawaso East Constituency. His swearing-in followed the passing of the late MP, Mahama Toure-Naser.

The ceremony was conducted by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin. Shortly after taking the oath and assuming his seat in the chamber, a moment captured on camera appeared to show the new MP dozing.

The footage quickly circulated on social media and has since attracted mixed reactions from the public, with many Ghanaians sharing their opinions on the incident.

While some people have criticized the moment as inappropriate for such an important occasion, others have treated it lightly, suggesting the MP might have been exhausted after the day’s activities.

The brief moment has nonetheless become a talking point, drawing attention to the new MP’s first day in Parliament as he begins his role representing the people of Ayawaso East.
