The Member of Parliament for Agona East Constituency, Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr, together with the District Chief Executive of Agona East District, Samuel Oscar Mensah, have paid a visit to the injured Assembly Member for the Agona Asafo Electoral Area, Ishmael Oddom, who is currently receiving treatment at the Agona West Municipal Hospital.

The Assembly Member, popularly known as “Oboye Spiritual,” was reportedly shot along the Agona Swedru–Asafo Road while mobilizing funds in preparation for activities marking Ghana’s Independence Day. Following the incident, he was rushed to the hospital for immediate medical care.
During the visit on March 8, the MP and the DCE expressed their concern and solidarity with the injured Assembly Member, assuring him of their continued support during his recovery.
Speaking during the visit, Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government and Rural Development, expressed deep concern about the incident.
“As a mother, I am deeply saddened by what has happened. We are here to show our love, encouragement, and support to our colleague during this difficult moment,” she stated.
The District Chief Executive, Samuel Oscar Mensah, also commended the Assembly Member for his dedication to community service and assured him of the Assembly’s continued support.
“We appreciate the hard work and commitment he has shown in serving his people. As a district, we will continue to support him throughout this period,” he said.
As part of their visit, the MP and the DCE donated bottled water, beverages, and an undisclosed amount of money to assist with his medical needs and recovery.
Meanwhile, Ishmael Oddom remains under medical care at Agona West Municipal Hospital, and sources indicate that he is responding well to treatment and is expected to recover.
