Tension has gripped the community of Agona Swedru following a violent altercation between students of Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) and Awutu Obrachire Senior High Technical School (OSTECH).
A student from Ostech being assaulted
The incident reportedly occurred after the two-day Zone 2 Inter-Schools Athletics Competition held on the premises of Swedru School of Business. The competition, which brought together several schools in the zone, ended with Kwanyako Senior High School (KWASTECH) — known for its motto Perseverance, Excellence and Truth — emerging as the overall winner.
According to sources, expectations were high among SWESBUS students that their school would secure victory on home grounds. However, following the announcement of the final results, some students from OSTECH allegedly teased their counterparts from SWESBUS over the outcome.
What began as verbal exchanges reportedly escalated into chaos and physical confrontation on campus. In the heat of the altercation, one of the OSTECH students popularly known on campus as “Soldier” was identified by witnesses as being involved in the assault.
Tragically, reports indicate that one student from OSTECH has been confirmed dead following the incident. The circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear, and authorities are yet to release an official statement detailing the cause.
The development has sparked widespread calls for justice, with members of the public urging the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to initiate a full forensic investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and ensure that any individuals found culpable face the law.
