Growing calls are emerging from sections of the youth and political observers urging Dr. Zenator Agyemang‑Rawlings to be considered either as a running mate or a presidential contender for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of Ghana’s 2028 general elections.

Dr. Agyemang-Rawlings is the current Member of Parliament for the Korle‑Klottey Constituency, where she recently secured re-election for a third term. A trained medical doctor and legislator, she is the daughter of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings and the late former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman‑Rawlings, founder and leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP).
Advocates argue that her political experience, professional background, and family legacy place her in a strong position to play a leading national role within the NDC. One such advocate, Uriel Kojo Atta‑Ankrah, has openly encouraged party delegates to consider Dr. Agyemang-Rawlings as either a vice-presidential candidate or the party’s presidential flagbearer.
Supporters further point to the historical role of her late father, who was instrumental in founding the NDC and served as President from 1993 to 2001, as part of the party’s enduring political heritage.
Meanwhile, there has also been speculation within political circles about the possibility of Dr. Agyemang-Rawlings being considered for a ministerial appointment, including the Defence Ministry, following recent changes within government. However, no official confirmation has been made, and such discussions remain purely speculative.
As the 2028 elections draw closer, these growing calls reflect wider internal conversations within the NDC about leadership, generational transition, and the future direction of the party.
